No Tassle Return Policy

Unnecessary pun award! Aren’t these rhinestone tassle earrings the cutest. Do I know any other adjectives, I wonder. They are from Liz Claiborne, $45. I would also love these as actual tassels for my drapes, but, you know, bigger. I just love these, they look like little art deco ufo’s and yet also like an octopus.

Happy weekend! I just got home from seeing New Moon. Much better than the first Twilight movie in my opinion, but in fairness I went in with very low expectations. While I admittedly find Robert Pattinson in need of a good srubbing when I see him in interviews, I do enjoy his sparkly good looks in Twilight. For those of you Twihards who just can’t get enough, check out this post over at Elements of Style about creating the perfect Twilight inspired bedroom in a completely uncreepy and sophisticated way. It is nice to share a name with this adorable gold ring ! There are flats with the same drug store stick-on bow motif, so cute! It is 65$ at Kate Spade. The shoes are $95.

And, I’m a Vegetarian

I very rarely cook meat at home these days, sometimes my husband cooks burgers on the grill, but I’m generally in a cookout for the pickles and chips. When I was pregnant the only meat I could stomach was in blt’s (nitrate free!). And the second to last straw was my very belated reading of Fast Food Nation, which I picked up at the salvation army last week, which confirmed that there is indeed poop in hamburgers. The actual last straw is this video on Perez Hilton. it. is. awful.

What I’m about to say goes against everything this blog stands for. We love high quality low cost items but sometimes high quality means high cost. I know, it stinks but its the way of the world. Since many people think Christmas is the time to splurge and buy something for their significant other that they would never buy for themselves, here goes. I don’t wear men’s undies so I’m unable to provide a firsthand account, but Henley & Sloane boxers are apparently the GREATEST boxers the world has ever known. So great in fact that many mean find their *gasp* $60 price tag (that’s one pair, not a multi-pack) downright reasonable. Because of their cotton covered elastic waistband they have developed a cult like following. So if you know someone who’s been particularly nice this year consider stuffing their stocking with a pair of boxers from Henley & Sloane.

I was really excited to see that the Norma Kamali line at Walmart is not only very wearable but truly cheap. most things are under 25$. The adjustable dress above seems to be the favorite around the office, but there are some other cute weekend clothes too, like the batwing sweatshirt cardigan below. The wrappy dress is only available in Large right now, but I think many mediums can make it work by the magic of adjustability, here’s hoping.
Here are some of the other things, look how cute. You could get an entire vacation wardrobe for less than 100$!!

After a recent 200$ dry cleaning bill I decided to invest in a steamer, something I have “always” wanted. I got the Rowenta precision valet rolling steamer for $139 at Target, and spent the rest of the day steaming my heart out, even the drapes. I may have also hugged the steamer.

This is an “Up” themed cake from Ohdeedoh, just when you think there couldn’t possibly be another thing done with cupcakes. Whoever said doughnuts were the new cupcakes was seriously deranged.
Desire to Inspire had a link to GardenHouse, which sells adorable outside/inside furniture, mainly of the old school iron type. I love this pink coffee table, it is $450. Also great for craigs list-painting inspiration!
This “urban cottage” housetour is so pretty, I have a (sub) urban cottage with a kitchen crisis and this is really helping.

Space Invaders

This weekend I’m planning to get all of my Christmas shopping done. All of it! Even my five $10 Christmas Eve items which is something I find pretty challenging. Platic Land is chock o’ block wih adorable inexpensive items. Its stocking stuffer central! The space invader ice cube trays are $10.

Just a reminder that the Jimmy Choo for H&M line debuts tomorrow. Unfortunately it will only be available in NY, CA and Chicago. I guess the CityMouse lives in a 2nd tier city. Thanks for reminding my Mr. Choo.

Did any of my fellow western burb commuters notice that WGBH had Supergrover on the big screen today? I love supergrover! I have patiently explained to babymouse many times that grover is way better than elmo but it’s all elmo elmo elmo at my house. I love supegrover’s helmet.

That was not at all related to this product, it is an upside down planter for 75$, and of course I am thinking over a table like a chandelier, pretty. It reminds me of the hanging fixture in Gwyneth Paltrows dining room which I’m sure cost ONE BILLION dollars.

It has a similar feel. You can put other plants in this planter but I think the orchid works best, less chunky and theoretically an orchid could grow hanging from the ceiling like that. When we were in Puerto Rico there were orchids growing all over the place hanging off rocks in the yard! It was crazy. The Boskke sky planter in white is $75 at Velocity Art and Design.
