FitFlop Inuk Boots

I love how comfy my FitFlops are but I hate how they look.  I also hate that I can only wear them 3 months out of the year.  I like to firm and raise my buttocks while power walking year round, not just in the Summer.  And so it is with great excitement that I introduce you to the FitFlop Inuk Boot.  At $199.95 they’re considerably more pricey than the flipflop version but then again Winter is cosiderably longer than Summer here in New England.

Product Image Keepsakes Table - Premium Ash

Ok, so I know this probably isn’t the coffee table of your dreams, looks-wise, but the basic cross brace shape isn’t bad, and it has an awesome function that is a dream come true for small spaces, like small spaces with no dining room.  It adjusts from coffee table height to dining height (it actually has 4 heights), it has a little hutchy thing that turns it into a desk, it tilts to be a drafting table AND it has flat compartments for storage!!   It can even fold flat to be stored under the bed.  It also is a pilates machine.  One of the features I just listed was for effect.  It is made of ash and the Target description helpfully adds that it is “furniture quality” which is good since it is in fact furniture.  it is 349$ yes 349$ at Target.

Glow by Sheila Fajl Handcrafted Agate Slice Necklace

This agate neklace I found on HSN reminds me of the safari lodge we stayed at on our honeymoon.  Okay, technically I found it in People Style Watch and they found it on HSN.  I don’t spend tons o’ time browsing the selection at HSN, but apparently I should.  This statementy statement necklace is on $69.95.  And of course since its HSN you can pay in two easy installments of #34.97.

Birds

Aviary Shower Curtain

I’m just realizing about 80% of my posts involve birds.  In my opinion birds are the best animal motif.  Perennial, and with its own whole nerdy background activity, bird spotting.   Also they blend well with loud flower prints, my other favorite.   Isn’t this bird case shower curtain cute?  If it weren’t plastic I would totally use it for drapes.  It is $28 at Urban Outfitters.

Farrow & Ball Fall 2009 Color Predictions

Happy Sunday!  I know bloggorhea normally happens on Saturday, but you may have noticed that I haven’t exactly been on the ball altely and I figured its better late than never!  In order to avoid post-wedding withdrawal I have thrown myself into a new project- decorating our home.   We already had a pretty good idea of what we wanted as far as our color pallette but and it turns out al the design  magazine brain washing has worked and what we have selected is one of Farrow & Ball’s Fall color predictions.  Check them all out over at Material Girls.  I hope this doesn’t mean that 5 years from now my living room will look “so 2009.” Continue reading »

Totally Brilliant Zebra Headboard

It was my lifelong dream to bring a zebra skin back from our honeymoon.  We searched high a low for a reasonably priced zebra hide and it turns out they cost less in the US than they do in Africa (it is the one and only item that isn’t a bargain over there).  Many people have said that now buying one was for the best because I’d been planning to use it as a rug and we have a cat.  Cat+Dead Aminal on Floor= Pee on the Rug.  Well, today I spotted this ingenious headboard over at CasaSugar.  Good luck peeing on the headboard, CityKitty.  This is brilliant!

I am Not Addicted to Starbucks

October 21st, 2009

iamnota_papercup.jpg

I would say I hit rock bottom when I left my parent’s kitchen in my pajamas at 8 in the morning to drive to a Starbucks-in a grocery store- 20 minutes away- for coffee, even though there was a pot ready in my own mother’s coffee pot.  My own mother’s coffee, not good enough.  I have been known to go to Starbucks more than 5 times over one weekend (not including friday).  It’s awful!  Not only is it terribly expensive in an insidious way, but I also have millions of slowly decomposing paper cups on my conscience.  I have tried to brew coffee at home like a responsible citizen, but I really, really, like wandering around outside with a paper cup of coffee with a lid.

So, I recently purchased one of these “I am not a Paper Cup” porcelain cups at Whole foods, and I LOVE it.  It is currently my prized possession.  It really looks and feels like a starbucks cup, not like all the other gerryrigged travel mugs that say “hi, I brewed this coffee at home and am now lugging it around outside like a responsible citizen.”  It is like one of those fake cigarettes for the coffee shop obsessed.  So comforting.  I was even able to enjoy some (free) OFFICE coffee today thanks to the psychological trickery of my little porcelain cup.  I am going to save a fortune!  It seems to be out of stock at the DCI site, on account of it being awesome, but try Whole Foods.
