I don’t wear earrings too much, but I loooove these crochet hoops, how cute are they, gold rings like an embroidery hoop with teeny pink doilys stretched between, and they have a large 2 inch diameter.   They are $75 at Ben Amun.

Loft Ruffle V-Neck Henley

I am not the biggest fan of Ann Taylor Loft but if they send me a big enough coupon code I can’t resist the urge to look for things that I might like.  Their prices are pretty good to begin with but with an extra discount they’re pretty unbeatable.  Right now is friends and family time,  You get 30% off your entire order plus free shipping on purchases over $100.  The coupon code is FRIENDS.  Here are a  few of my top picks.  The ruffled henley pictured above is $25.55 with the discount.  There’s also a really cute sleeveless version for $27.65.  And what about this eyelet ruffle dress for $55.30 with the discount?  Very cute.  Best of all, the code is good on sale items.  This cardigan is now $17.49 and it’s not made of anything synthetic!

I remember when I was in college we would all get Delias catalogues in our mailboxes constantly, I guess it was early marketing because we never seemed to order anything from them and yet there they always were.  Anyway Delias has really expanded, and has  a very good casual summer shoe collection, they have low top converse in 28 colors! If you can’t find a pair you like you probably just don’t like all stars (why?). These gingham simple sneakers are pretty cute too I think.

Fakin’ Bacon

Baconnaise Lite

I started this post based on what appears to be an unfounded fear that bacon would be stripped from supermarket shelves to protect us from the swine flu.  Actually, according to the experts at About.com you cannot get the swine flu from ingesting pork.  Whew!  But just is case they are incorrect I’ve decided to tell you about a number of tasty fake bacon products that should hold you over until then pandemic passes.  I’m sure you’ve all heard about Baconnaise Lite by now.  Hungry Girl is all about the Baconnaise.  For those of you not watching your waiste there’s also a full calorie version.  A 3-pack is just $14.99.  The geniuses behind Baconnaise have also created a plethora of other products to help us get throught these potentually hard times.  Anyone for some bacon lip balm?  Okay, that actually sounds kinda gross, even to me and I really love bacon.  But I think I’d really enjoy a shake or two of bacon cheddar salt on a baked potato or maybe some jalapeno bacon salt on my popcorn.  The shake on bacon options are all $4.49.  They also have combo packs of 3 different flavors for $12.99.  Strangely, these products are all kosher meaning that no actual pigs were harmed in the process of making them and they therefore cannot give you a killer virus (altho, neither can actual bacon).

Sew Buttons

Oooo, there is a cutesy little sewing section right now at Urban Outfitters, there is a good looking old school Singer machine for $299 and a small selection of sewing doodads and books.   I am most interested in the sewing machine, I haven’t seem one like that around.  My sewing machine is not remotely as cute as this one, although I can’t say how well the Singer works.  I can say how mine works: it works ok.  I have always wanted one of these super amazing embroidery machines but only in my dreams will I spend so much on a sewing machine.  There is also the bizarre looking sewing helper for $12.  It kind of looks like a dentist/torture instrument.  The rest of the items aren’t anything you couldn’t find more and better at MJTrimming, but I still appreciate a sewing section at one of my favorite stores.

A Lotta Links

April 25th, 2009

Happy Saturday.  This will be a very short post because I’ve had an incredibly busy day and the bed  is calling out for me.  I just read that Bea Arthur passed away today.  I loved Bea on Golden Girls.  It was one of my favorite shows growing up and I thought Bea was just sooo witty.  I do so hope that Rue McClanahan has something inappropriately raunchy planneed for her memorial service.  And maybe Rose will regail us with another bizarrre tail from he childhood.  I learned from The Peak of Chic that the Beeline Home website is chock o’ block with adorable things.  I particularly love this Hourglass Table.  Best to just admire its beauty and not ask about the price.

dishwashing-set.jpg

I love cleaning my house with old fashioned wood brushes, it makes me feel like I am a housekeeper with a good head on her shoulders, and salt of the earth and all that.   Like the kind of person who sweeps their yard with a broom.  Have you ever seen someone doing that?  It is amazing.  I have a little collection of brushes I have picked up here and there, but I really want this little brush rack from Murchison-Hume along with some brushes: these brushes are perfect, and I can mount them along with my current ones on the wall rack in my kitchen.  I don’t like the little mound of bottle brushes and etc. always sitting next to my sink- it wouldn’t be a big deal except my sink is in an island so my dish cleaning supplies kind of stand out.   I read about Murchinson-Hume on Apartment Therapy and they also have some good looking cleaning products, the seem to be along the lines of Caldrea but with a more somber, nuts and bolts quality, note the amber glass and option for unscented versions of the cleansers.    The Heirloom Dishwashing Set includes dish cleaning fluid in Grapefruit, Juniper, or -nothing- scent, with a pot brush, a dish brush, and the darling rack for $49.

By the way, a note about Caldrea:  there is a new scent!  it is Sea Salt Neroli.  Neroli is like a bergamot/orange scent from the Seville orange tree.  I didn’t know that either I just looked it up.  And check out this awesome brush, it is 20$:

Shine Home Metropolitan Pendant Antique Whipped Cream

PrettyBourgeois loves Shine Home.  We do not however love some of their prices, until today!!!  All Shine lighting is now 50% off!  I know, I can’t believe it either.  All of their accessories and a small selection of casegood are also on sale.  The Metropolitan Pendant pictured above is on sale for $497.50.  I also really love the Errol Console for $1,087.50.  I use to be in love with the coordinating dining room table but just couldn’t afford it.  I see that the last of them have been snapped up in the sale.

How about these super glamorous Salt-n-Pepper Shakers made of actual amethyst, they remind me of those insanely expensive (I say things are insanely expensive a lot, but this time I mean really coocoo expensive) boxes with the gems outside by Kelly Wearstler at Bergdorfs, except these are only $98, from Roost.  I have to say Roost is so good at having pretty things that I want to buy, a lot.   These would be so pretty hanging around the dining room as well, little purple obelisks.  I would love this as a wedding gift. They are at Velocity Art and Design

ZGallerie Sling Barstool

Sorry, I have a complete inability to contain myself when confronted with poop humor or even the possibility of it.  I am desperate to buy a pair of LEM Piston Stools.  Sadly, they start at $725 and so I can’t afford one, much less two or three.  I’ve been looking at a few knockoffs on Overstock and while they are affordable and nice looking they are very clearly trying to be something that they’re not.  What I really want is an equally sleek, equally adjustable stool that doesn’t come off as though its trying to be the LEM.  I also want something with a non-pleather seat that won’t clash with my kitchen island.  Today I found the oh so affordable Sling Barstool at Z Gallerie.  It’s just $169 so I could probably get 3 or 4 of them.  It’s fully adjustable and has an acrylic seat so it will blend in almost anywhere.  Best of all it pays homage to the LEM wihtout blatantly copying it.  And as if all of this wasn’t enough, the writeup promises that its wavy seat will comfortably cup my rear!
