A Lotta Links
Hi everyone. I’m in New York this weekend to see the revival of West Side Story. Ay ay ay! While I’m in town I’m also planning to hit the Barney’s warehouse sale.

I don’t know if I am getting older or the clothes from the Jaclyn Smith Collection are getting better, but I think this cotton jacket ($34) is pretty cute and the last time I looked at this line (which was probably a good 8 years ago) I had more of an “ew” reaction. Now my reaction is more like “hmmm, is there a KMart around here?” (”here” meaning my town, since I haven’t thought of KMart for one second since Target arrived several years ago so I have no idea if we have one).
I also like the scoopneck on this other little topper, maybe with a wide belt since it is a little more tent shaped? My foggy KMart memory tells me that these sorts of items are sometimes cut like big bags, no matter how small a size you get- no waist. But that’s ok, we have belts.

Have you ever accidentally bought a beauty product that you knew was out of your price range but you just couldn’t stop yourself? That happened to me this week. I have been wanting to buy RevitaLash for forver. Literally, forever! Since the day I started plucking my brows I have wanted this product so that I could take it all back. It was just waaayyy too expensive. Well, right now it’s 20% off at Drugstore.com. That’s right, RevitaLash could be yours for the bargain price of only $120. I know, it’s still quite expensive. That’s why you have me, your overpriced hair growing guinea pig. I have ordered my RevitaLash and expect to receive it by next Wednesday. I’ll be checking back in on this post once a week to let you know how much brow regrowth I’m experiencing. Let’s just hope this product is as wonderful as Rita Konig claims it is.

I could barely believe my eyes when I saw a couple players from the new Women’s Professional Soccer League on the Today show holding up their new uniforms, which appeared to be- skorts! I was even more surprised to see that there has been a minor public outcry against the skorts-what? Apparently some believe the skorts to be a sign of inequality for women’s soccer, as if Puma is just too afraid to allow women to be real athletes who wear stretchy shorts just like male soccer players do. Um, has anyone ever heard of the Williams sisters? They are always out there totally kicking butt in full out dresses, some of them have even been eyelet! Eyelet. I know tennis is not soccer but I think skorts could be worn almost as easily for soccer (and I say that having played a lot of soccer myself, with many, many falls).
While I would never condone skorts as a clothing item for everyday wear (skorts and jumpsuits, just don’t go there) for sports I personally think nothing could be better, they look adorable, allow you to move the way you need to (or at least seem to), and still cover your hoohah. Also being a good at something is not affected either by your gender or by your wearing of gender-assigned clothes, I thought we were all on board with that?

Hey this reminds me of this company I read about on Dress a Day, they make excercise skorts for the non professional sport enthusiast. They have a whole section for my exercise of choice, running, running and more running. This is the “sweetest thing” running skirt/capri, it is $75. So cute.

Did everyone get the e-mail from CB2 that their Spring goodies have arrived? I rushed right over to check them out and found this chair that I really love. The Scan Lounge Chair is oh so affordable at $499. I also love (in apossibly cannot live without sort of way) the Smart Round Coffee Table for $299. I’ve long been a fan of the smart collection but I had never noticed this coffee table before. Its an amazingly good deal especially considering the marble top and its rounded edges makes it seem very kid friendly.

I love the springtime, because there are a lot of occasions to wear church dresses; no church necessary, those outfits that are maybe a little too girly for work, too wholesome for going out, beloved by grandmothers everywhere, you know what I mean. I secretly wish I could be wearing a flowered dress drinking punch and eating sugar cookies in the basement of a church at any given time, so I am totally on board for graduations, day weddings, you name it, if someone might be wearing white patent shoes, I’m happy to attend. This dress from Ann Taylor is perfection for that. It is like seven shades of pastel goodness, my husband will probably hate it, but I and my grandmother will looove it.
Here is a slightly less pinky flowery one, this one you could wear to work. Warning: the belt doesn’t come with:

It’s Coupon Code Time

I have found this recession to be oddly coupon code free. Sure, there was December when we got a new coupon code every day from every store. But that doesn’t really seem to be happening anymore. I haven’t gotten a 30% off code since early January. So I was starting to think that I might have to return to full price shopping. THE HORROR! But today I stopped in at Banana Republic to do a little shopping for my trip to New York next weekend and what did I find but a 20% off code. Hooray! The code is SPRING and its good on orders of $100 or more. Here’s what I got. The pleated sweater dress pictured above is on sale for $64.99, which is $51.99 with the coupon code. Continue reading »

I can’t stop staring at this decked out staircase, which was all done up with paper flowers for the Chanel 2009 Haute Couture show, in Paris. Yes, it is all PAPER. It just goes to show that if you pick one motif and do it over and over until you are drowning in it, it will look luxurious.
What else can I say, this is Obama sushi. Oh wait there is something else I can say: fish paste teeth.

I am in LOVE with the new Spring line from Kate Spade. Particularly the Ipswich Constantine Clutch pictured above which is $350. Its named after Ipswich, MA! CountryMouse has lots of family in Ipswich so she really ought to buy the purse. Portland, Maine got its own clutch too and while I do love Portland I prefer the Ipswich clutch (more versatile, in my opinion). In case you can’t tell from the photo, the purse is patent leather! In keeping with the striped theme of the Ipswich clutch, I am also totally in love with the Lorna Wedge which is $295. It’s only shown on the website in white patent but I saw it in the store two weeks ago in green and it was so adorable. Sadly, these items are all too new for coupons or price reductions. But I’ll keep my eyes peeled and let you know when they get marked down. Ewww, who peels their eyes? That expression is just gross!

They are really stepping it up over there at Payless with the designer lines. This awesome slingback is one of the new Lela Rose shoes for spring. I love the frayed bow and heel height, and if I squint the heels look like stacked wood. Of course it isn’t real stacked wood, not even the $100 level shoes seem to have stacked wood anymore. Which stinks for me because I am a total shoe destroyer. When I was pregnant one pair of my shoes actually started creaking with stress and I sounded like a grandmother in a squeaky rocking chair coming around the corner. Just one of the reasons my pregnancy will go down in infamy as part of our office lore. It costs $38. And don’t forget about BOGO. I have never actually participated in a BOGO, mainly because I can never find a second pair of shoes I like enough for the “get” part, but I love acronyms and CAPS and could (bo) go for one of these pairs, if they were to land in my lap during BOGO:
Not bad! It seems to always be BOGO season over there. I would just buy these non BOGO-style anyway, they are that cute.
