Tooth Fairy Kit

Happy Saturday!  When I was little I had a somewhat bizarre obsession with the tooth fairy.  Of all of the mythical holiday folk she was by far my favorite.  On numerous occasions I truly believed that I had spotted her.  Once she even left me some of her magical fairy dust, seriously!  Did you know that fairy dust and glitter look strikingly similar?  I spotted these completely adorable Tooth Fairy Kits over at Oh Happy Day.  The kits are $16 and are from The Office of the Tooth Fairy (seriously, I am not making this up). Hey, look what I found hiding away in the Anthropologie Sale section ?  It is the shiny red metal and straw seated Emile chair of Domino fame, on sale for $98!  The original price was $198 which wasn’t even that bad I don’t think.  I have always liked you, Emile.

I also saw this pretty Seltzer water glass.  I have not always liked you, Seltzer water glass, but only because I did not know you.  Also I believe you to be a vase.  A lovely, $7.95 vase.

Did you see there is a farewell message on the Domino site?  that stinks.

Iomoi With Love Gift Set

I think you are all well aware of my uncontrollable love for all things Iomoi.  But were you also aware  that right now they have these super cute Valentine’s Day gift sets for  only $50???  Its a heck of a deal.  You get an 8.5×11″ lucite tray, 10 notecards, a cute notebook and a pen.  None of them are custom but they’re still pretty darn cute.  The set pictured above has “With Love” notecards (I like this one because of the elephants) but they also have “Big Kiss” notecards and “Thank You” cards.

Why Lord, Why???

We warned you a while back that this might happen but I honestly never believed it would.  It seems that Domino is shutting their doors.  The March issue will be the magazine’s last.  Word on the street is that the website will be shutting down as well.  I hate you global economic downturn!

Security Scarf

I have been eyeing this super voluminous circle scarf from American Apparel, it has tons of fabric and can worn doubly or even triply around your neck, and if it suddenly begins raining, you can pull part of it over your head as a hood.  In fact there is so much fabric, you can create many silly looking skirts and dresses out of it, see photos on the website.   Although maybe not so silly if you are suddenly whisked away on a tropical vacation and need to make a sundress out of your cold weather commuting apparel.  Alas I doubt this will be an issue for me.  This being American Apparel, it comes in lots of colors.  It is $28.

Is It Spring Yet?

Boden Fine Stripe Henley

Lately I’ve been very stuffed up.  I’m sneezing constantly.  I don’t think it’s a cold.  I’m pretty sure I’m allergic to Winter.  Don’t get me wrong, I think snow is super fun.  But on the days when it’s not snowing it would be so much nicer if it was 70 degrees.  Since I can’t make it warmer, I’ve decided to do the next best thing - look at Spring catalogs, of course!  I’m particularly enjoying the new Boden catalog.  They’re having a 15% off plus free shipping promo right now.  The promo expires on June 10th so you better hurry!  To get the promo you need to enter the Quick Service Number from the back of the catalog or you can call 866-206-9508 and place your order over the phone.  The striped henley pictured above is $88 pre-coupon and its’ a sweater so you don’t have to wait too long to wear it. Oh Boy!

I just came across the new Liz Claiborne Isaac Mizrahi line that will be available in a few short days!  I am excited.  It looks goood.  Actually some things look bad, but mainly gooood.  Basically the outfits they have on the actual Liz Claiborne site all look good, I think, and the other batch of looks floating around out there such as the ones on WWD look kind of scary.   The pink dress kind of looks like it is eating the model’s head.  And I don’t know what to say about the brown bag dress- maybe I’m just sensitive because this dress  is the same color as my skin and that combined with the shape would make me look very, very terrible.    Also I can never embrace a dark denim suit.  But enough complaining,  I love this windowpane jacket, and also the dress, and LOVE the shoes!  The coat has a big polka dot lining.  I read a couple commenters complain that this outfit is very upper middle class summer community.  And your point is what?

Click through for some of the not so great ones. Why post those?  Because they are funnier and also the good ones are all flash.

Pottery Barn- Totally Busted

Pottery Barn Nicholas Nailhead Chair

This morning I was innocently sitting in my most comfortable chair reading the latest Pottery Barn catalog when what did I spy but my most comfortable chair!  My chair is the Clift from Rowe (no, not in that fabric).  We’ve had the chair, actually a pair of them, for about 3 years now.  We had them upholstered in our choice of fabric and got each of them for about $450.  On the other hand, the Pottery Barn version does not seem to come in a choice of fabrics and is $899.  *Gasp*  Really???  I like my chairs just fine but I don’t like them $899 worth and they have a much better fabric on them.  It seems Pottery Barn may have broken up with Mitchell Gold and moved over to Rowe.  There’s nothing wrong with Rowe at all but be aware you can get it for a lot less and in a much nicer fabric from your local furniture store.

P.S.  Mitchell Gold is having an amazing sale.  If you’re in the market for furniture definitely check it out!

MAC Pro Longwear Lipcolor

I’ve long been a fan of L’oreal Infallible LipColor.  Its not perfect but it gets the job done with an occassional weird clumping.  Lately the weird clumping has been happening more and more often so I set out to find a replacement product.  I didn’t have to go further than my local Macy’s to find MAC’s Pro Longwear Lustre Lipcolor.  At $20 its definitely more expensive than the L’Oreal version but not prohibitively so.  The top coat is shinier and more moisturizing than the L’Oreal version as well, a bit more lip glassy, I think.  I have not yet experienced any weird clumpiness (but in fairness this is my first day wearing it).  Most importantly, the color selection is excellent.  I went with “lishious.”  Luv-4-Ever also looks quite nice.  It also comes in a ton of non-irridescent shades- my favorite is loyal.
