How to Look Good in a Beer Tent
I am still hanging out with the German Volks at Oktoberfest! Oh how I wish I’d had this Smashbox Socialite Beauty Collection for my trip. Last year I bought a really great collection of eye makeup with a handy instructional DVD from Smashbox and really loved it. I got about $150 worth of makeup for about $45. This one is $59 for everything you need to look great and a great looking bag to stash it all in. The kit includes an eye brightener, eye shadow quad, a blush/bronzer duo, cream eye liner, a lip “enhancing” gloss, under eye brightener and mascara all packed in the cute woven clutch. After several days in a beer tent I could really use some eye brightener!

Last weekend was a real live new england classic- all rain and greyness, and wind. I loved it! I had to check the doppler radar like 20 times- and no one was golfing at the club near my house, so we could walk around the course to our hearts content, without all those pesky golfers trying to play on their course.
Pink Corduroy trouser skirt, JCrew, $40. Grey patterned tights, Hue, 12.50$. Long black and grey striped cardigan, $19.80, forever 21. Shiny mary jane flats, $12.50, payless.
On a related note, Polyvore is more awesome than ever! I made the montage above; note that I often cry and beg my husband to help me with programs such as iphoto. By which I mean, it is soo easy and fun to use Polyvore.

Maybe you were concerned no one was manning JCrew while CityMouse is in Europe. I’m on it! There is an extra 20% off sale right now, and there is some good stuff in there, like this dress, which I just put in my cart. Persimmon or Black? I can’t decide.

I saw these adorable Lollia guest haus (their spelling, not mine) bath products in the new InStyle. The packaging is insanely cute. These are perfect for displaying in the guest bath. I think they’d also be perfect for traveling. The tubes make them seem extra leak proof (although I’d still keep them in a ziploc). Each is about $8. They make Shampoo, conditioner, shower gel and moisturizer and the scents all sound so wonderful. The tube pictured above is grenadine and tonic. Reminds me of a shirley temple, my favorite childhood drink!

This poster featured on Creature Comforts seems appropriate for the week we have been having. Don’t worry gang, internet businesses can run pretty lean, so we shouldn’t lose Etsy! And anyone who has watched tv during the day knows that you can be APPROVED for a NEW computer with no job or credit, so no worries.

Last year I got the cutest rainboots for Christmas. The only problem is that they do not keep my feet warm at all. I’m dry, but absolutely freezing if I wear them in the snow. Yes, I know this is what snow boots are for, but my wellies are so much cuter than clunky snow boots. I noticed that L.L. Bean has come up with a brilliant and adorable cure for this problem. Wellie Warmers! These super cute giant socks go inside your wellies to keep you warm and then fold over the top for added cuteness. They’re $19.95. For really really cold days they’re also available in fleece.

This is a great idea. Despite my resolve to not have a bagillion toys around the house for babymouse, it’s the soft ones that proliferate by themselves and are impossible to throw out. The Boon Animal Bag is a big soft plush bag that becomes a beanbag style seat when you stuff it with - stuffed animals! It also has translucent windows so you can see your (temporarily) out of commission friends. It is $69 at Right Start.

Does everyone know that InStyle has an amazing discount section on its website? I’d always seen the deals and steals logo in the magazine but never bothered to go to the site. There are actually some very good deals to be had there. I found this really cute Cable & Gauge knit blazer for $98. InStyle readers get 25% off. The only catch is that the blazer won’t be available until October 30th and the coupon code only works from September 26th to October 31st. Tricky. So clearly you’ll need to order on the 30th or 31st to enjoy the benefits! I’m going to enter that into my planner right now so I won’t miss out. I love a good tipped blazer!

Oh man did I have an awesome time on the Liberty of London Site! Although 90% of the items are way unaffordable (but still fun to look at), it is rife, rife I tell you, with smallish gifts for your friends and family. This is on top of the famous printed fabric, available by the yard; fabric catagories include “conversational” and, of course ”floral conversational.” They do ship to the US, but all prices are in £’s so try to keep a subcurrent of conversion related sticker shock in the back of your mind as you browse.
